“Adopting
a Dreamtime”, el Reto de la Alegría.
Hay
una pregunta que parece estar carcomiendo las patas de la mesa común
de la Joyería Contemporánea: ¿Para
quién hacen joyas los joyeros contemporáneos?,
¿a
quién tienen en mente cuando se deciden a producir estos objetos? Al
modo de las preguntas sencillas, el runrún que acompaña a esta
cuestión es fino y persistente cómo un soplo intencionado. Es una
pregunta que escarba lento y que sólo trabaja de noche, cuando los
joyeros nos vamos a dormir.
Con
Adopting
a Dreamtime
Marta se ha dado un reto, y el reto le ha devuelto la mirada. A mi me
parece que ahora, ahora que ha cerrado los ojos de pura confianza, su
trabajo busca hacia
afuera,
y,
presentado como una ensoñación, ya no hay manera de eludirlo. Con
la intención de que lo que ha estado reorganizando, la materia
desnudada a base de paciencia insistente, sea ya tangible para
nosotros. Ella nos dice que la constancia era necesaria para que
estas uniones fueran posibles. La madera lo repite y nos damos cuenta
que sí, que las cosas tenían que ir juntas para que las pudiéramos
entender. Que estas banderas de signos tiene el encargo de hacernos
virar hacia la alegría. Porqué
estas obras están hechas, de repente, para nosotros.

“Adopting a Dreamtime”, The
Challenge of Joy
The legs of the common table of
Contemporary Jewellery are being eaten away by this question: Who do
they make their jewellery for, the contemporary jewellers, who do
they have in mind when they produce these objects? By way of simple
questions, the buzz that comes with this interrogation is fine and
persistent, like an intentional breath. This question rummages slowly
and only works at night when we jewellers go to sleep.
With Adopting a Dreamtime Marta has created a challenge, and the challenge has returned its gaze back to her. It seems that now, when she has closed her eyes out of pure trust, her work looks outwards, and presented as a dream, there is no way one can elude it. The aim being that what she has been reorganizing, matter stripped bare with persistent patience, becomes tangible for us. She tells us that perseverance was necessary to make these connections possible. The wood echoes these words and we realize that, yes, these elements had to go together so we could understand. And we realize that these banners are meant to signal that we should change course to joy. Because, suddenly, these artworks are made for us.
